So now the excitement has died down a bit

What's CoV like?

EQ2 is starting to lose it's lustre, so I'm looking for other games to try.

The big plus for CoV is I know the game already, and most of you PUNKS that play it

Do yas reckon there's enough of a difference from CoH that I'd enjoy it?

Depends what you didn't like about CoH. At the end of the day it's a very big expansion pack, Sharez couldn't find anything he liked so it'd be worth chatting to him about why as he never told us ;)

If, like Nazz, you just couldn't find a type of character you liked - CoV may very well suit you nicely as while 4 of the 5 ATs seem very similar they are tweaked and offer their own unique benefits. Controllers with blaster secondary? Super Strength Scrappers? hello!

And then there are MasterMinds which have no equivalent in CoH at all.

We've collected the people who were still playing CoH in australian hours after 18 months, so there are plenty around and we're building a kickarse base to hopefully start raiding soon.

Check out the SG forum although us SC types tend to chat here as well ;)

Hmm I thought I did tell you Spyder :)

It's not that I hate CoV ( I don't), it's just that I find it too
similar to CoH for my liking.
Mind you I never got past level 6 so maybe it gets better.

Who knows, I may join you guys somewhere down the line.

hehe nope you never did :P

As I said if you didn't like the CoH game engine then you won't like CoV; things do change as you progress to DOs and SOs though. Quite a few people have commented that CoV is much easier to level than CoH was, if that matters to ya.

while you're here, did you have any toons in the SG? we keep running out of space :(

To me CoV is very close to CoH. Except the AT, i don't see any difference (well there's none).
I love to solo my character so I take the time to read each mission scenario and i'm having a blast.
When I group, i love large groups. Pretty fun to be overloaded with mobs all around you.

If you got bored quickly with CoH, I don't think you'll like CoV.
I find CoV world smaller and missions gets similar pretty quickly.

Nazz, try to borrow Sharez login to have a look and see if you like it. I can lend you a CoH access code for 14 days but they did not bother giving vouchers for CoV trial.

Rolled a few toons to try out some of the ATs I liked. Stalker, Brute and MM.

So far the Stalker is winning (energy/ninja). The Brute wasn't much fun and the MM made my brain hurt. :(

Stalker's name is Mister Blood (The evil brother of Doctor Blood, btw) and my global nick is @Esoon.

Won't be on much on saturday but I'll be on all day sunday and monday fer sher.

I never had a major beef with CoH/CoV. I quit originally because it failed to challenge. Things have improved and I'm looking forward to the new content - base raids and SG/VG missions. The PvP will be a bit of fun too.

Cheers

hehe noose the trick with brutes is to get fast cycling attacks, watching your damage climb as you gain fury is seriously addictive :D

My brute is now 33 and it's a great character.

Usually at beginning of missions, I burn a bit more inspi (esp greens) as I need to build up fury.
Once I got a good fury running, then i'm rocking the casbah. My energy transfer with a very filled fury bar + some red inspi + Build up is between 900-1000 on an AV. Pretty sexy for someone that cannot be killed in one shot.
