Secro,

Are you advising to spend the additional $140 to get the Fortress case?

Kash, Will those places in Sydney build the system if I buy all my components there?

You can always ask. If they charge you for the service it shouldnt be more than $50 so i'd expect they'd chuck it in free if you aren't haggling the other items.

Sorry been away Bigman.

If you want a hand to put it together I can lend a hand after work. Pymble is about 20min from my house could come around after dinner or something, shouldn't take that long to get it to the installing windows phase.

QFT - MSY is cheaper than wholesale alot of the time, and if you have a list from someone who is tech savvy of what you want, you wont get booted out of there by the staff (you basically need to know your shit to shop with them, or they will quite literally tell you to get out). Then get Kash to put it together :D

Wow, thank you for all the advice guys. Great job Wastegate, I really appreciate it.

Secro has also given me the link to this Whirlpool wiki: http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/rmp_sg_whirlpoolpcs_gaming_configs_1

Now, I don't want to upset people by chosing one spec over an other one or one builder over an other one ...

I would love to aim for the 24th and see Kashak whilst he is in town ... a fellow CA ... Jason, if you are free that night too, come over and we'll have a couple of beers.

Now, I would like to put out there the spec I am thinking of buying and some questions ... please give me your feedback.

MSY seems to be the cheapest but the motherboard and CPU I want are out of stock. ITEstate is closer to my house and seem to have the stock. Prices below are from them

Mob: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 $145
CPU: Intel S1155 Quad Core i5-2500K (3.3GHz) $234
RAM: Desktop DDR3 Ram 8GB Kit (2x4GB) PC3-12800 1600Hz Corsair [CML8GX3M2A1600C9] 9-9-9-24 $59
GPU: Video Card (nV) PCI-e GTX 560 Ti OC 1GB Gigabyte [GV-N560OC-1GI] (900/4000MHz) $279 (is it wise to take overcloaked video card?)
Case: Lancool PC-K63 (USB3) $144 (I am pretty keen to get the positive air pressure to keep dust out, will I be able to do with this case?) Do I need to buy additional fans or filters?
PSU: 750W (Modular) Silverstone Strider Plus [SST-ST75F-P] $143
HDD: Internal 3.5" 2TB SATA3 5400rpm Seagate Barracuda Green [ST2000DL003] $149 (should I go for the HDD Internal 3.5" 1TB SATA3 7200rpm Seagate [ST31000524AS] instead which is $119, has faster rpm but has only 32MB cache instead of 64MB?)
SSD: I am thinking of not getting one. You guys agree? Does it mean I should get another HDD instead?
ODD: DVD-Rewriter Internal 5.25" SATA Samsung [SH-222A] (22x/OEM with Software) Black $19
Sound Card: Don't people buy sound cards anymore? Should I use the one from Motherboard?
Other fans/coolers: Do I need to buy a different one for CPU or GPU?
Other cables: Do I need to buy cables to build it all or should it come with enough?

Total $1,149

I have Windows 7 already.

Thank you in advance for your feedback, I will try to order and pick up by Saturday.

I wouldnt worry about extra cables, you will get all the cables you need with the parts. Fans coolers should not be a problem either, unless you are planning on OC like a mad man!
I have no idea about the HDD.

Get the 7200rpm Hard Disk over the 5400 one if its going to be your main drive. Extra fans, just pick up one for $10-20. if you want to overclock a new CPU fan is needed for the BIG overclocks. I got 4.5GHz with a $100 cooler but I dont expect normal people to do that ;).

edit: Video card looks good. The overclocked ones usually arent worth a big premium , depends on how much extra it is over the normal one.

if the bigman will be overclocking read this http://www.anandtech.com/show/5054/corsair-hydro-series-h60-h80-and-h100-reviewed/7. The cheap one is about the same as the fancy air coolers and nice and quiet. Ive got one. Quite nice.

However if your spending money on MORE SPEED the SSD is probably better :) Plus intel stock cooler can still get 4.0Ghz

I only have a small bottle of Jim Beam and it is yours.

Ok, if I don't hear anything, I will order the above spec. I hope all the elements (and the box) get together.
