NEW PC (take that ghey freezing old pc! :P)

So I got pissed off trying to Troubleshoot my old rig, so I went and upgraded

CPU: Core I7 950
Mobo: GA-X58A-UD3R
RAM: 3 x 2GB Corsair 1600mhz
GPU: Geforce 9800 GTX 1GB (salvaged from my old PC)
SSD: 64GB Corsair V64 Nova
HDD: 1TB Seagate 7200rpm
PSU: Antec 750W Truepower
Case: Antec 200 V2 (ghey I know, but im over flashy cases)

Once this is paid off, its upgrade for the GPU and an aftermarket cooler.

Total costs $1150.

So tell me geeky ones, did I do okay?
( I live in country VIC so no uber MSY prices for me :P)

Really could use a new graphics card ><

can't you just get a GTX 460 for like 150-200 bucks, it'll clean your 9800 GTX up. I'd drop the SSD even just to get a better graphics card.

Also is that SSD a sandforce chipset one? They are generally cheaper and offer the same or better performance, like the patriot one. Corsair used to be expensive though that may have changed..

Other than that it's ok.

Samsung Spinpoint F3 is cheaper and faster as well.

You should get an i5, they will be cheaper and similar or better performance in games.

I'll see if I can dig up my specs somewhere... Got this just after Christmas and put it together on my holidays. Got my last couple of parts just before umart went under water in the floods here in brissy :P

CPU: Core i3 550
Mobo: GA-H55M-UD2H
RAM: 2 x 2GB Geil 1333MHz
GPU: Gainward GeForce GTX460 SE 1G
HDD: Samsung 1TB Spinpoint 7200RPM
PSU: Thermaltake Litepower 700W
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Two

No SSD for me. Cost around $920 I believe, with a dvd player and a copy of Windows 7 (lol, no more XP for me...).

Oh, and before he says anything, yes Kaid, I know you gave me the list of things to get for it, thank you :P

Why I7? Old tech with no upgrade path?? Socket 1155 Sandybridge was the way to go, till yesterday when Intel recalled the borked SATA controllers! New motherboards due erm April! :)

And yeah get a Nvidia 560 as a minimum for that CPU, otherwise its pointless IMHO.

The next LGA-2011 chip release with no onboard gfx will be the way to go imo, will have much better overclocking potential.

Better? Holy cow. Shall be awesome then. 6-core and quad channel memory will still be cool.

I'm hearing the new core i7 2600k chips hitting 5GHz on air coolers. One guy hit the max of 5.7GHz.
