FUUUU BSOD FREEZING POS GHEY CRAP PC

Post by Fitz » 02 Feb 2011, 19:11

Hey techies,

Needs some help.

PC has been getting :
- constant freezes - Windows thinking symbol still spins, but nothing else responds. If in game, everything freezes. can last up to 2 minutes.
- random blue screens - both playing graphic intensive games or just in Windows
- After a blue screen, takes AGES to load back into windows (like 10+ minutes).

Tried reformatting, no dice, so thinking hardware related

Room is a bit on the hot side, although case is open to the air, and has multiple fans going.

Attached are the few minidumps I could find, anyone able to decipher what might be the cause?

mmmmm create a bootdisk with memtest on it and let it run?

Try running with 1 stick of RAM and see what happens

I'd say memory but it could be anything.

Tried intel burn in test?

http://downloads.guru3d.com/IntelBurnTe ... -2047.html

Supposedly the best stability test at the moment. It tests cpu and memory subsystem.

Tried looking in the event viewer - is there an entry prior to reboot? The extra time on next bootup is probably windows checking the hdd (it's typical after a BSOD). The HDD checking doesn't necessarily mean a hdd problem. HDD problems are pretty rare (they do happen though). A reinstall would of "fixed" the hdd problem.

How long did you leave the mem test? It's a test that needs to run for a decent time (couple of hours, overnight=best). Don't forget to turn off the monitor - there's no screensaver :)

Have you done anything funky in bios? Like disable thermal throttling?

It doesnt seem to be the standard error check - where it actually says that. Just sits on the Windows logo for 20 mins. Then finally loads into the desktop.

Ran Memtest over night - ran through 14 passes I think it was, no errors. ~10 hours testing time. Havent done anything to the Bios in this one as far as i can remember...

Anyone able to decipher the OP attached DMP files? I tried using a debugger program, but its still gibberish to me :/
