A black orc hitting you with a 150kg hammer should make you head explode instead of dropping you 500 hitpoints too. Concessions are made in the sake of fun ;)

Besides, teh jedi all got their buts kicked by robots and soldiers in the end

This is true, but it also takes some of the shine off the "legend". For the sake of a game it makes sense to do obviously...i just like to bitch and moan.

Tactics I guess. 1v1 might be tough, but didn't they have different technologies back in the day ... I thought the mandalorian armour couldn't be cut with a light saber etc
Jedi aren't invincible in most things that aren't the movies anyway, so I'm sure it would be fine.

I'm an absolute Star Wars fanboi, still have complete sets of mint Ep4, Ep5 and EP6 trading card sets from the 80's and while I agree that EP1, EP2 and EP3 weren't great the more you watch them the more I do enjoy them. The TV series should be interesting as well. As sad as this may sound my Mum pays for my Hyperspace membership every year for my birthday (yes I'm 36 I know), it's in my blood, something that I can connect to my childhood :D

Anyway back to SW:ToR, the more related interviews and articles I read about the game the more intrigued I am. It took them 12mnths to announce the game even though everyone had half a clue that it was almost going to be a KoTRO 3, yet there is still little known about classes and gameplay mechanics. I don't really agree with the way they launched it with very little info and the less they tell the less interested gamers will be. The MMO market is not what it was when early MMO's launched. We ahve become more critical and seems less tolerant to game play disasters.

I'll keep the post updated with news and links that come to hand but my personal belief is that it's going to be a very different MMO than what we know. I'm almost betting on a Mass Effect style with MMO population walking around, questing etc. Only time will tell.

And May the Force be with You

sadly this also leads to less inovation from the game designers - companies are not as willing to take risks and step away from the accepted gameplay styles that attract the masses.

Okay I admit i am interested. I am a damn star wars fan and would love another starwars mmo. I really miss SWG in its first incarnation before it got shafted. Think i'll keep an eye on this and see how it pans out.

Re-installed, patched and logged in last night. Got an email a few days ago to say I have a free 30 days. I thought, 'why the hell not'.

YES, Southern Citadel is still there! Unfortunately not one of the many toons I have access to is still a guild member so I can't run for mayor
The SC star port is gone, so is the Cantina and Camofrey has a few guild halls of memorabilia near the town square. Cloning center is still there too.
Spent about 2 hours touring around last night and never once ran in to another player
