AOC website?

Post by Fitz » 03 Apr 2008, 13:00

Hi peops - who hosts this website? The crew over at lotro.southerncrossguild.org including myself are interested in making an AOC and later a WAR version (war.southerncrossguild.org / conan.southerncrossguild.org) but dont know who to talk to? Give us some info please? (or is something already in progress?)

Heh well you lot need to decide what to install. LOTOR was joomla, I dunno if the forum LOTR used was just because of that.

Subdomains are available (i think I have 5) and theres plenty of database slots left.

PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD!

Don't install different forums/databases. Having to have multiple logins is ftl and limits our own members from finding out what other games we're playing/active in.

Thanks Kash, Fitz told me that he got in touch with you and we're good to go. And yes, the reason we use different forums to these is so we can use Joomla for the website. As you can see from our LOTRO site, it works well :)

It's not difficult to sign up on the website...just apply and say youre from SC, and we'll give you access straight away. Sign in once, click 'Remember Me' and you never have to type it in again...

It's not the difficulty so much as the lack of interaction. When we all had one forum there was at least some cross-posting between games, but we rarely hear from the LOTRO crew these days and the EQ2 crew are just off in their own world completely.

I've already cover Joomla and phpBB in another thread and as I said in there why split the population :/ The question isn't why not click remember me the question is why make people have to at all. Either way you have access to the forums where this is being discussed. Personally I’m against creating further separation within the SC community. Part of the reason this particular forum exists and is open to all is so that we can ascertain whether or not we need to create new forums for new communities/games. I fail to see the sense (or how new members are supposed to identify) that to see AoC discussion they should go to the lotro boards as opposed to the umbrella Southern Cross guild forums.

+1 Nazz, SC is cross-platform - having separate forum sites for each game, thereby splitting the community, is just not cricket.

If there's AOC or WAR forums, they should start here at least, and branch later if they have specific forum site needs.

What Nazz said. I'd prefer to do all my one stop SC forum browsing in one location.
