Its a bit sad that Galaxies is coming to an end, but in SWTOR theres a positive future for Star Wars in the MMO space. After only 15hours of play its clear to me that this game is going to massive in a way that Galaxies never was, or could have been.
I miss the open world nature of Galaxies though, the deserts and forests filled with mining extrators, coming over a hill and seeing a player built city that you never knew existed there. I will always miss the friends who made up SC back then, when MMOs seemed so much simpler. It wasn't about being the best at your class, it wasn't about DPS meters or showing up to raids 5 nights a week for four hours. You logged on, chatted on Teamspeak with Nazz, Noose, Spot, Secro, Jarik and the others, helped each other with their various objectives and you had fun. I will always miss those days, but I also know theres a certain degree of nostalgia involved, SWG was a fundamentally flawed game and MMOs today whilst being much more linear are much more fun.
