Class Discussion: Demon Hunter

Following on from spots monk thread, and given there are 50 bajillion demon hunters.

Heres the build I'm currently using for Hell Mode: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/d ... XeT!cbZYZY

Essentially its hide in stealth, as most scarier monsters 1 shot you even with 25k hitpoints.
Mainly works due to my base 30% crit rate (10% from archery as I stick to hand xbows for the especially).

High crits obviously mean that teeth is occuring a lot for grouped up trash mobs, and when multishot is fired you have a good chance of critting 4+ mobs which then triggers Night stalker for a change of massive discpline regain.

Bat/Prep/Marked for death for added hate/disciple gain to fuel multishot and smoke screen.

Seems to working really well, I can easily solo some of the harder combinations of Rare hell mobs now.

Also, Smoke screen is the bees knees, breaks fear/stun/slow/frozen/avoid most aoe splash/avoids most attacks that are on route to you.

On another note, Chakram spam was pretty amazing for normal/nightmare for me.
Noose seemed to prefer the rapidfire

Anyone fan of knives, strafe or elemental arrow for their main hate dump?

Whats with the Uzi they wield?

How are they loading the crossbow bolts when using 2 1hander xbows?

ITS MAKES NO SENSE.

Now a monk who can summon a giant bell from nowhere..now thats legit.

Rapidfire = chaingun

I switch from RF to Chakram depending on my mood and how many mobs there's expected to be. Single target (ie. boss/blues/champs) I prefer rapidfire for fast dps. I might try and fraps the rapidfire to show the amount of crittage that thing generates, it's mad fun to see.

All that said, I struggle to get by solo in hell. So I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Witch Doctor was crazy fun til I hit halfway thru chapter 2 in nightmare, then suddenly I went from faceroller to rolledface. Oh well, not as far to go with the DH and then I won't feel as bad if I go back to the Witchy.

I've probably only played for 10 hours total, but my DH is my highest, favourite class so far. Only at level 23 though. Stopped playing my HC Barb at level 18 cuz I came too close to dying haha.

LOVE Twin Chakrams, also just started using the lightning ball Elemental Arrow, it's pretty good for packs of enemies. Whereas regular Elemental Arrow is good for single enemies, or if they all stand in a big line.

But yeah, basically you can shoot the lightning ball a bunch of times through a group, and it auto targets the enemies as it goes past them. Also because it moves quite slow, it can zap a few enemies before it disappears.

Having a lot of fun vaulting around the place too, I wanted to try vaulting into a group, and using fan of knives before vaulting back out again.. It hasn't really worked yet though >_<

Also been running around with the spider companion for lols, but it doesn't seem to be doing a lot.. Will probably switch that for a defensive skill when it starts getting difficult.
Sig.

Just reading some guys post/ss about solo'ing Diablo inferno as a Demon Hunter.

12k hps, 93,000 dps (while at 100% crit from passive)
Yay for glass cannon characters... :)

Finally tried the ball lightning elemental arrow.

Holy smokes, that thing smashes bosses, the arcing lightning hits them multiple times and costs stuff all hate and 155% dmg.
Also hilarious is the missle dampening elites, the ball of lightning basically stops next to the them and keeps arc'ing till they die :D

Just started Hell on my DH, well not far in (just killed skele king). Using http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#acYTkl!TYe!cbbZYb for now, but on the prowl for a more sustainable build. Stop/start combat is eating me up!
